Default update, 4.6x30 formed to 17 velociraptor.

sorry it took so long, once was able to fit the case into the shell holder it was one pass and done. the case fits into my chamber just as slick as the 5.7x28. conclusion is if you have a 17x28 you can make brass from the h&k brass and get the advantage of the higher pressure tolerance, 57,500 as compared to 50,000 on the 5.7x28 and no coating to deal with. to me this i akin to using lapua or imi brass rather than remington.
as you can see there is virtually no change in capacity , the 17 v-raptor has a 35* shoulder , almost no body taper and the neck length is inmaterial. here is the 4.6x30 necked to 17 caliber and the parent cartridge on the left.

in my opinion it's good not to have a preparatory case such as the 5.7 especially since the 4.6x30 is a stronger case. those that shoot the 5.7 could also make cases from the 4.6x30 by necking them up to 22 caliber.

boy did i post this in the wrong forum earlier, i think i need more sleep.

Foxhunter,
Have you found a supply of 4.6X30 brass? I'm buying Fiocchi ammo and pulling the bullets.

do a search for the last thread on the 4.6, adam posted a contact for it.

if the brass is only sold by the 1000, i for one would take 2-300 off someones hands if they wanted to split it up.

thx
bob

I sent an e-mail to the corrected address but have received nothing back yet. Maybe the fellow is off at a Thanksgiving family get-together for the week.
