Default 17 Hornady Hornet

Has anyone cut a chamber with a reamer from PT&G and shot some Hornady ammo in it?

If someone has what was the before firing and after firing of the factory Hornady brass?

I'm just wondering what size chamber the PT&G reamer cuts...........Kiwi

ab bentley posted a reamer print from PT&G a couple months ago.
There are some who have chambered with that reamer.
They just haven't come to life yet.
I fired some in my AH and they seem to shoot good.
The Hornady brass is a little heavier that Winchester hornet brass
and it seems to be quality. Reloading can only tell about that. Kenny

Kiwi,
I've got dies, a barrel and some brass coming to start measuring up. I'd have a reamer but PTG are horrendous at responding to emails, and list International freight as UPS ... which would tip me to get a Manson reamer who atleast freight USPS International and respond to emails. Once a donor action is determined ... and I clear some debts ... intend to build a 17Hornet.
Cheers...

I would not consider PT&G in a blue fit, has to be the worst company ever. I know many here like this company, my experience as follows
Dummy rounds sent nov 2011, they never located them until mid january, After emails daily they apologized " your business is important to us " LOL
Yep we will have it done in 2-3 weeks, march comes around, no replies, I cancel the order. "oh we are sorry " will ship in 2 weeks.

Now have had the chamber cut, its not the free bore I asked for, even the reamer print does'nt add up.

I have now sent 9 emails asking them what to do, " do I send it back ????"
I have had dealings with many US companies and they have been fantastic, an example I did a group barrel buy 12 months ago from Pac Nor, one of the buyers has been delayed in his build, in fact just completed. He had problems with the barrel, contacted Penny. Within 2 days they agreed to replace the barrel, no arguments. A great company

PT&G are the absolute pits, from my poor experience they have now lost three orders from here. These people are using Mansons now I believe

Has any one tried Dan Green's reamers (Forgreen Tool Mfg. - Texas)?

Interesting, I used Pacific for years, with never a problem. I've not ordered a reamer for 3 or 4 years now - maybe something has changed?

Daryl
Iwent to them without even checking other companies, they had that good a reputation. Something has gone pear shaped with them.

Kathleen in one of her apologies said she had been to busy answering the phone to reply. Youve got be joking says I.

What makes it so much more difficult is the time zones for phoning & being totally deaf I would need to get help from my wife. Can you imagine trying to explain things, and be told things through a 3rd party who has no idea what is being discussed. I guess it makes for a little comic strip LOL Anyone here remember the Abbott & Costello " who's on first " Thats what it would be like, and yes they know i'm disabled

I will try to get you some numbers on once fired brass. Off the top of my head, I had .003 expansion on the case and neck. My chamber is much tighter than the Savage prototype chamber, as I have some once fired brass that won't chamber in my gun, without full length sizing. My reamer is a PTG. I have Hornady dies, but I need to find the time to ream my Wilson blanks to see how they compare.

Johno:
I can sure understand the situation using a third party.
Mac and I didn't have a third party. Both of us were deafer than a damned rock.
Imagine the FUN we had with one down in the pit trying to hear and coordinate commands to "PULL" while the two of us were "trying to" shoot clays.
Shooter would call several times, launcher never heard and finally decided "gosh, he must be ready to shoot by now, twang away the bird goes. About that time the shooters head looks around the corner asking why the H didn't you launch til I was just about to look in on you? You nearly hit me in the face with that clay bird.
Oh the fun we had. I miss the old guy. Re: Albert "Mac" McGrath. d Dec 2007.
